You are only eligible to take this recertification course if:
* You have a current, non-expired Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support certificate (issued in last 12 months) OR If you have completed the BLS Renewal Prerequisite Challenge Certificate (within the past 90 days). NOTE: The Heart & Stroke does not currently offer a grace period for those students who have let their CPR expire, nor do they recognize grace periods that have been extended to staff of AHS.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives. It is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings or by those in a healthcare training program.
This course covers High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, Chain of Survival, Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), Ventilations using a barrier device and bag-valve-mask, Multi-rescuer resuscitation, Team Dynamics, and Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults, children, and infants. Your certificate will be issued by the Heart & Stroke Foundation and will be valid for 1 year.
